I gave up watching Television. I began to find it so infuriating that I couldn't watch it any more. Ha ha. No disrespect to those who enjoy it though.

Enjoy it?
Certain mainstream channels, more than ever before, are competing to come up with the weirdest freak shows.

Even the BBC News channel, in response to budget cuts, has deteriorated markedly.

I despair of the general direction of UK TV.
Me too. I dislike intensely the way TV presenters talk to us as though we all have the mental capacity of bloody 4 year olds. The News people, if that's what they are.....more like propaganda presenters actually, quote so called "experts" all the time and expect us to believe them. The quality of TV writing and production has deteriorated to the point that for me it's unwatchable. If I'd kept my TV, I would have ended up putting a hammer through it ha ha.

It does come across as patronising, but in fairness to them, presenters are told not to assume that all viewers are up with the details - and many are not.

My real issue is with 'inclusivity'.
Media has a duty to reflect society.
But, in their perverse efforts to be  seen to be doing the right thing....they're massively overdoing it - showing the minority as a majority and, therefore, not reflecting society 🤨

My brother is fixated on GBNews and takes everything said on there as factual. I have tried to tell him multiple times that this channel is the equivalent of sensationalist FoxNews in the the US but it falls on deaf ears. I have watched it and wonder where they get their "facts" from sometimes, it is very far from a balanced viewpoint.

TV in general is getting worse by the day. We have more channels than ever before but there's very little that's an interesting watch, maybe one programme a week... if you're lucky.

Mrs. P is fixated on any news programme, incl these crummy daytime shows: 'Good Morning' or The Jeremy Vine Show, which drives me insane.

However, we do have streaming device in the TV so she can catch up at later date.

Basic channels are rubbish but with streaming of all sorts... most are free of charge.

I get what you're saying but, I'm not as thick as, not just two but, three short planks and, I don't have the memory of a goldfish with Alzheimer's. I find such presentation exceedingly irritating and, even science programmes are going the same way.

Yes indeed. I think you're correct. For me there ended up being two options.
1; Sledge Hammer
2; The local dump.
😂 and a lovely letter to the TV licence authorities explaining to them that I do not possess the necessary equipment to recieve their stuff as it's being broadcasted etc. I think I might even have told them that even if I did have the equipment I wouldn't watch any of their ....erm what shall I say. Wonderful programmes.🥱

Does your TV have streaming services?
