Hello all,

I recently bought a second hand Technics stereo amp (Technics SA EX140) for 20 euros. The user manual says it's 100 watt @ 8 ohm / channel (200 watt total output).

Yesterday I ordered 2 Q-Acoustics 2050's after hearing them in the shop. Their specs:
  • Nominal Impedance: 6Ω
  • Minimum Impedance: 4Ω
  • Sensitivity: 92dB
  • Recommended Power: 25 - 150w
Is it alright to use these speakers with my amp? Or am I going to blow something up?

Thanks! :)

1 watt into these speakers will give you about 90dbs give or take a couple of dbs depending on how far you sit from them plus how close the speakers are to the walls. This is pretty loud.

10 watts will give you 100 dbs.

100 watts will give you 110dbs.

Concorde take-off levels are 119 dbs.

The most likely thing to get blown up is your ear drums. Or your good relationship with your neighbours.

Enjoy your new kit and don't worry about the specs.

How does it sound to you? If it sounds good, it is good. If it doesn't sound good, there's plenty of other 2nd hand kit you can buy for not a lot of money that you might prefer.

Thanks for your reply! I read a bunch of stuff online, and I was worrying if I'd blow up the tweeters... or something.

Anyway, I'm reassured. Thanks. :)
