new tv no connection comp

Hi,

wondering if anyone can help. Just installed a new TV ( Samsung 530 40" full hd) plugged in the scart for sky and alls wel,l great picture and happy so far. Plugged in my arcam dv88 via component and the audio interconnect as well. popped a dvd in to test and with the remote selected mode and scrolled to comp, screen comes up no connection? all connected ok and in the right sockets, checked twice and its ok, got wife to check all ok, still no dvd? am i doing anything silly or stupidly obvious?

dvd works perfectly on last tv through scart, only one scart on this tv so went comp for dvd function..

Take it you haven't got the scart cable plugged in as well? From the manual:

"The DVD player can only support Component video or RGB video at any one time. This is specified in the setup menu. If you use either of these outputs with an incorrect menu setting, the picture will be coloured in a strange way. Similar effects result from cross connection of the three
signals.

If you use component video outputs, you must ensure that the SCART socket is not used. Similarly, if the SCART socket is used, disconnect the component video leads."

Furthermore, the setup menu has an 'HQ Video' setting, which can either be 'RGB scart' or 'Component' - presumably you had it set up for SCART before, so you might be better plugging it in with a SCART, check that works, navigate to that setup menu and change it to component, then switch to component cables and see if it works?
