That Ross Kemp is proper hardcore he is. Nothing like a fat actor who can no longer grow hair to put the fear of god into the gangsters and pirates of the world.

Tom Moreno:.....Nothing like a fat actor who can no longer grow hair ...

A similar description was used by a certain chancellor of Germany of a new Prime Minister of Great Britain just less than 70 years ago. Of course - unlike Ross Kemp - that particular balding, fat bloke was 'proper hardcore'.

Hey! You lot sure are sensitive. The guy only said he felt you were out of your depth by not including every technical detail on your reviews.

Whats wrong with that? How is that rude? He's entitled to his opinion, surely thats what these forums are about, and his comment was neither rude nor insulting. You gave him a fair response, job done. Please don't start getting so sensitive or people will be afraid to voice their (in this case perfectly reasonable) opinion, and the strength of these discussions will surely decline...

No-one's getting sensitive - we responded to his jibe and moved on.

Other users were suggesting he be banned, not us, and as it was he bit the dust for an entirely different reason, as I explained.

Opinions are one thing, but there's been an increasing number of people seemingly signing up simply so they can abuse the staff, which I personally find very irritating, not to mention pointless, especially as everything about this place is free. And it IS rude, no matter how you word it, it's like an acquaintance inviting you in for tea and then you telling them that they're rubbish at their job or something. If that isn't rude I don't know what is.

There are plenty of other AV/Hi-Fi forums available that people can go slag What Hi-Fi off in*. To come here solely for that reason is pretty pathetic if you ask me.

*I was so tempted to insert a parenthesis starting "Bork!..." there, but I won't...

I am very interested in the 46 or 52z5500, i really like the minimalist design, but as the only review will be the 40 incher, will the picture quality be the same or is there a greater chance of backlight issues the larger you go?

Also, I have the STR-DA6400ES and I think I read somewhere that the bravia sync/theater sync features would reduce the amount of lag between video and audio signal you get sometimes (mostly with sky+ hd). Does anyone know if this is actually true?

Hi the sony kdl40z5500 has bravia engine 3 contrast ratio of 100.00 better 200hz prossesing and has a very thin bezel.its a big step up from the z4500(but i do still like the blue glitter)but to me the sound is better on the z4500 as it has a subwoofer(the z5500 has down firing speakers)pictures look amazing in both sd and full hd blu-ray,it really shines.oh and the 40.46.52 inch does not seem to suffer with backlight bleed.hope this helps.oh one more thing try and buy in a dealership there are some good deals to be had(online is ok but we always seen to catch cust out(in a nice way)when they see a price online but its never in stock.I could advertize a tv at a stupid price if i only had one in stock.internet sites seem to go on the number of hits it gets before they commit to stocking products.

Thanks for the info sony, do you know if the bravia sync has any effect on time lag with the 6400? I'm using b&w 685's with htm62 centre speaker so the sound from the tv is of no importance (tho i've heard it's very good). i think it's the best looking set they've made in a long time, just hope it gets a good review!

Thanks again,

Troy.

yes mercury 1 it does look very nice. But it looks like the s5500 series that we do lol, sony,s best looking set is the awesome x series.now thats a tv.I have set one up using the str6500 amp with sky hd a sony bdp3639sony centre exclusive blu-ray player)and a ps3 and not had any probs with bravia sync using the blu-ray player.Remember that bravia sync only works with selected sony products and not skyhd or sonys own ps3.

Whats new with the 6500 over the 6400?

I have to disagree with you re the looks. True it's similar to the S but it did look cheaper and the X looks too wide imo with it's 'ear' speakers (unless they're removeable??).

My point re the sync was, i read somewhere (i'm sure in this mag a few issues ago), the sync feature eliminated any lag with Sonys TVs as the 6400 did the processing and sent it all out simultaniously.

The 6500 has an ethernet port and better video scalers thats all,no lip sync issues when i set up and tested in-store had it on for 8 hours.lol the x-series gives outstanding pictures.it has an rgb led backlight, looks stunning better for sound as well with the speakers wider apart with a sub built into the back of the set.And sonys s-master amp built in.I guess its a matter of opinon and taste. But it is my fav tv and saving up for one.the z5500 looks very slim, but it does remind me of the s series.the str6400es amp is a real beast took forever to set up but the wait is well worth it,sony av amp seem to be getting a lot better.I sometimes thought that they sounded bright, but i guess the japanese market like it like that.the sound is a lot warmer when you have driven in the speakers and a low vol.looks like sony have listened for the british market,i had an old strdb1080 amp and loved that to bits, but steped up to an onyko 605 for true hd sound.omg he does not have a sony amp banish him to the bullit train straped to the front lol.
