OK so I upgraded to Sky+HD.  Really pleased with the amazing picture on HD content, but I had a couple of Sky+HD related questions I'm hoping you more experienced HD-ers might be able to answer.

I understand it's a "known issue" that the volume on HD programmes is much quieter than regular programmes, but is there a fix for this yet? or on its way?

Also, I noticed the programme guide is exactly the same as Sky+. Anyone know when the new HD one is coming??

Er, volume button?

I know what you mean - it was particularly bad during the Proms, but that may have been a technical fault since it wasn't just quiet but actually pretty poor quality. Some movies in HD had the same problem until I added an AV receiver and 5.1 speakers, but alas too late to see if it would have sorted out the Proms problem. I've got a feeling that the box does a poor job at downsampling the 5.1 sound to stereo.

The new guide was due this autumn but it's been delayed to whenever they feel like it, sorry, 'when it's ready for our valuable customers'. More importantly, I can't wait for the promised upgrade to the HD recording codec so that taping 3 films in HD doesn't completely fill the harddrive!

Hi

I could be wrong but I think the new HD recording codec started about 2 months ago. I've definitely noticed they take up less room.

They've been continually updating the codecs, according to emails received from Sky posted elsewhere.

I feel that there's been a bit of a drop in quality at the same time, certain shows/channels just aren't as good as they used to be IMO (BBC HD excluded, as that changed from a trial!).

Quite often movies will only take 6% of my HDD now, whereas I remember the Star Wars movies taking 15%-ish.

Hi Folks.

Can anyone advise a solution to the Sky+ HD HDCP / DVI incompatibility issue? I have an Optoma H56 projector that is not, according to Optoma, HDCP compliant so cannot get picture at all.
