Sounds like what bigjimnofool could do with is someone popping round to his house with a complete vinyl system. TT, arm, cart, amplification, speakers. Compare one entire system against the other. Then swap components over one at a time to see what makes the biggest difference, or if it's down to thecombinaton of the whole lot working badly together.

Yes please! If anyone is willing and lives in the Scottish Highlands!

A WEE UPDATE:

Had both speakers checked by a local HiFi specialist and they are both fine. However my RP1 is being sent back to the dealer it came from as it has quite a clear "buzz" due to poor grounding. I believe this can be a problem with this turntable.

So back on the hunt for a turntable I went. My confindence has been shaken with my experience of the Rega so I have ordered a Project Debut 3 SE which come with the Ortofon Super OM10 cart. I am confident that this will now be my setup for many a fine hour of happy listening. Fingers crossed!

Oh and Im also gonna update my speakers since my Missions are at least 10yrs old now. Been fancying the Wharfedale Diamond 10.1s. At the HiFi shop he let me hear them and I was impressed with their tone. Very punchy and bright compared with my boxy beasts bellowing out the bass! : )

Cheers

I did think about trying another Rega but thought "what if this grounding issue is apparent in the replacement TT" I wasnt willing to take the chance. Plus I didnt think too much of the Carbon cart which came with it in the first place. I think the Ortonfon will be a better cart. So all these considered I went for the Project.
