Jax, 18+cm might work, 18+" won't. Plus they are deep speakers, too bad because they are my absolute faves.

The prices on the site look very low, indeed I'd be suspicious too. I see on A..gon a pair of S1.4s with stands that are local to me in Portland, OR for $2000 (I suspect they are from a Magnolia store that closed recently) - so it's ATC for me for sure, as soon as I get a new job (2nd interview went well, result pending).

Actually, I was wrong, they are only 16" inches out, not 18". Not that it makes much difference in your case. Still too far. Yes, they are pretty deep at 14". So the fronts of mine are out at least 30" from the wall. That's pretty far. But that's about what they need. I wouldn't want them closer.

Yeah, 2k for S1.4s with stands is a very good deal. Too bad they won't work for you. ATCs will work very close to the wall. There are two pairs of the ATC 20SLs on Audiogon right now. Also, I know a dealer that is offering 25% off new ATC until April 1st.

Ok, 18cm was just for alliteration, but in reality 12" would be the max (current speakers are 10" out), just not 16" - unless I rearrange the furniture whilst my wife is a work.

Checked Modia on BBB and Houston BBB and they though they get fairly highly rated, the number of complaints and the repeated same offenses gives them a mixed report card. Main complaint seems to be taking orders, and charging your card immediately even if the item is not in stock. Eventually your gear turns up but this can take weeks.

Interesting. I emailed the Dyn USA distributor and they said they use to be a Dyn dealer, but 3 years ago they stopped carrying the Dynaudio line. So they are just unloading old stock. It's probably legit. I don't know anywhere else you can still find the old Contours (stand and floor models) new in the box. They list Special 25s as available also for $3500 a pair. If those guys would just stick all that stuff on audiogon it would all be sold in a couple of months. I'm tempted to rent a uhaul and offer to buy it all from the owner for 25cents on the dollar. But my wife would never let me do it....
