I recently had my Pace HD box replaced with a new Samsung box.

Has anyone noticed problems with the sound quality, specifically too much bass?

No I haven't. Do you use your tv's speakers? I only use my surround speakers.

I use both, but it sounds far worse through my Panasonic 37LZD800.

Try playing about with the volume in the settings. You might have it too high or too low. I would normally recommend having it about 3/4 of the bar. You then won't need to turn your screen's volume up as much and it might help.

I've reduced the Samsung down to all different levels and adjusted the bass settings on my tv. It doesnt solve the issue.

I've read another post stating that the sound quality is better from the Samsung, but I'm begining to wonder if the box is faulty.

Your box might be faulty, my box sounds crystal clear. Sometimes I have to check that my sub is on, no excessive bass.
