New DAC - Chord Qute EX or MF MX-DAC?

Hi there,

I'm considering an upgrade from my current DAC which is a Meridian Explorer. My question is whether to move to either the Chord Cute EX (£1000) or MF MX-DAC (£500). Both have received great reviews. I have an Electrocompaniet EC-3 which has balanced inputs - the MX-DAC is a balanced designed, with balanced outputs, the Chord does not.

I'm also unsure whether spending the extra £500 would really benefit my system (Monitor Audio GR20 speakers, Chord Rumour 4 speaker cables, Russ Andrews GQ-24 interconnect)?

If there is any benefit to the two DACs you're looking at, your system will allow you to hear the differences. Can you get to try them in your own system? That's the only way you'll know for certain.

you could also listen to the new Audiolab MDAC+ when it is released shortly, this also has balanced outputs. just a thought!
