The best match would be Rega Apollo-R. Alternatively, Arcam work well with Rega, as does Roksan (s/hand)
If you're interested I'm selling my Electrocompaniet. It's in mint condition and have similar tonal traits to the Nad - it's very smooth in the midrange but highly detailed. I've got it up for sale for £500, but it originally retailed for closer to £1200.
Genuine reason for selling: It is surplus to requirements.
doesn't much matter..its a proper cd player...will last for years and years will lift it's game to every upgrade the op gets..its a no brainer...yeah got thrown over for a arcam? Lol..it takes allsorts I suppose...Al ears said:keeper of the quays said:Buy the plastic penguins cd player...its awesome..he prefers his arcam yes I'm scratching my head too! £500 is cheap! I'd quite agree but it's not exactly brand new is it? ;-)
Pretty sure the OP's from Australia (my apologies if I'm wrong)Al ears said:tansriloi said:I got the tv on top shelf. Yeah I'm looking for brand new, want to keep it for long run. Marantz seems to be over my budget.
Are you in the UK? The Marantz is available for £599 and is highly recommended.
why? None of those choices are near the electro! Audiolab is ok I suppose..but why buy grape juice when you can have wine?BigH said:I was considering Marantz 8005 (£600) and Abrahamsen (£500) only problem is getting to hear one before buying. Or you may find an Audiolab 8200cd new still or Audiolab 8200cdq for around that price.

I own two Marantz cdps..both hum...and sound very coloured..i own some audiolab stuff and it's ok..well made to a cost..that Abrahamsen? New brat on the block? Will it last? Who knows..electro is pedigree...low high end..but still high end..im sure your expectation bias with your new machine is comforting on your ears! But if you can ever try a proper cd player? You will then regret your purchase in my opinion..here's why I think this..my arcam (£800) my roksan (£600) my mission pcm7000 (£1200 new!) all sound ordinary compared with my quad cdp2 my quad cdp 2 sounds ordinary compared with my mates flash Cyrus machine..the electro is closer to the Cyrus than it is to the quad! No brainer!BigH said:keeper of the quays said:why? None of those choices are near the electro! I have Marantz now, I demoed the Pearl Lite which was pretty good, the 8005 is now a good price and its new with 2 year warranty. The Abrahamsen I think is very similar to the ECM Electro. but its new and only £500. But I've never heard one so not sure about the sound. The 8200cd/q comes out as the best cdp on some other forum under £1k.
Have you heard them?

+1 to Arcam CDS27. It sounds great, AND it streams! Don't mind the whf review, audition one for yourself if you can.
