new cd player

i've just had a set of kef 104.2 reference speakers rebuilt ,and also purchased a audiolab 8000 p and 8000 c (pre china) from a certian auction site . i've been reading many revues on cd players over the last couple of weeks and am no clearer ?? if anybody has any advise i would be greatfull. My budget is only about £400 at the moment which doesnt help.

The obvious match is the Audiolab 8000CDE, which sells for around £350, and can be found for £300 online. I wouldn't bother with a pre-China 8000CD secondhand, as there were some problems with the CD transports on these players toward the end of the original Audiolab days.

IMHO, the 8000CDE is a pretty fab player for the money.

yeh makes sence i supose.

I've been hedging towards a rega apollo even though its out of my price range, sort of

still dont know now ... never even considered audiolab cd. but there again i dont know how much better a rega is over an audiolab ???

If you can find a deal - maybe ex-demo? - go for the Rega Apollo. An exceptional all-rounder.
