Hello everyone. I am looking for a new receiver as I have recently upgraded to the new Q Acoustics 3020-3090c-3010

I consider myself inexperienced. So I have no idea what receiver is enough for my speakers to shine but not too extravagant.

My room is quite small. 15sq.m. and I never drive the speakers too loudly. I think I should start my search with something like the demon avr-x1200w and go from there.

Another consideration of mine is a used receiver. Would something like a Yamaha rx-a1010 or a pioneer vsx-lx55 be worth buying over a newer but lower-end receiver like the Yamaha rx-a550 or the demon avr-x2200w if sold for the same price?

Any advice and input is precious to me. Thanks

Ok I see. And what do you think about the used high-end receiver option? Worth it? Of course I have to look for a ~5year old one to match the cost. The Yamaha rx-a1010 for example.

I'm sorry. I should've mentioned this before. I don't care for 4k and as for atmos/dtsx while would be a decent bonus, I don't care enough for that to make an impact to my final choice.

The Yamaha rx-a1010 is a good call - it's features are still very current - with all the inputs, decoding and ability for pass through that any lower spec 'modern' alternative can offer. (7.1 if ever required too)

It also has enough power to more than do justice to any speaker package you may choose.

Your approach is sensible and makes good sense.

I own the rx-a1020 it's a good receiver. Not heard the Denon though.....but buy the Yamaha with confidence.

Ok, i will try and demo whatever i can find, and let's hope i can distinguish the differences between the amps hooked up to different equipment. In the meanwhile, any other input is welcome. *smile*

A little update. The used receivers i had my eyes on turned out to be sold already. So that leaves me with the only option of new receiver for now. There's a sale here for a Yamaha RX-A550 and is now cheaper than the Denon avr-x2200w. You guys think is worth it for my speakers? Right now i think the price of the Denon is too big. Like i said i don't really care for Atmos/DTSx features. I only care for stereo and surround audio quality and reliability. Should i go for the Yamaha now? Or wait for the Denon to match the price?

PS. The RX-A550 is better than the 679? Right?

The RX-A550 belongs to the superior Aventage range and so will be better than the 679. It does not have some features that the Denon X2200W has. Check the review here:

If the extra features don't add anything to your needs, it is worthy of a consideration.

I think i've narrowed it down to the Yamaha rx-v479 and the Yamaha rx-a550. Here, the price of the Denon avr-x2200w is still too high. Over 640 euros. The Yamaha V479 is 360€ and the A550 is 540€, but i don't know if the extra 200€ are worth it. The specs are the same...and the exact same weight really bugs me. The Denon avr-x1200w has the same price as the A550 so i don't think it's worth it. What do you guys think?

Of the options, Yamaha RX-A550, demo before purchase.

Still not sure it's so much better than rx-v479 to make the extra 200€ worth it. In the USA both have the same price at some places or maybe 50$ extra. Not 200$. I don't know...
