Need help.

I am looking at setting up an entry level Hi-Fi system in my room.

Have made up my mind for the CD -6004 and PM-6004 Marantz.

However, I need suggestions for speakers.

1. B&W 684

2. B&W 685

Any other suggestions are welcome.

Monitor Audio stuff pairs very well with marantz. I guess the equivilents (based on price) would be the RX1 and the RX6?

Advising would be much easier when one knows the sizes of the room, how it is furnished and how the speakers will be placed (free space, close to wall?)

How important is sound quality, compared to say the looks/aesthetics of the speakers? If looks, then I'm tempted to say pick the best 5 star looking speakers in your price range from the what hifi reviews and be done :roll:

Hi,

B&W, KEF and Monitor Audio are a good starting point. I'm a big Monitor Audio fan so my preference would be RX6 if you are putting them up against a 684/685 but that depends on the room size aswell as positioning. The B&W IMO can be a little bass heavy in tighter areas or closer to walls. Undoubtedly aethetics will come into play aswell so that will need consideration if its a room to be used by others.
