igglebert:jtein:Hi, I initially had in mind the Roksan Kandy K2 amp to drive the ATC SCM 11. But is it suitable for the 11s which I heard require more wattage? What are some better alternatives to the Kandy K2? I heard the Roksan Kandy K2 on the Spendor A6s today and was very surprised how good the pairing was. I think you'd be fine with one driving the ATCs. Bloody good amp for the money I have to say!
Will we see a change in your sig, iggle?
Nah. My Quad system sounded clearer in the midrange to me although I've never tried it on the A6s. I've compared the A6s with the Arcam A38 and CP against the Kandy K2 with matching CDP and found the Kandy much nicer. The Arcam produced a lot more bass but it didn't seem to be in control. So what do you conclude from that? Maybe the Kandy didn't have enough grunt to make the A6s sound as they should. Maybe the Arcam has a bloated bass. Maybe the A6s need a higher damping factor, as provided by the Kandy.
I had a few brief moments of working out how I could get the A6s into my lounge without causing WW3 but I think I'm going to look into a REL R-series sub instead
I need to address my source too as I think it lacks punch. That's what comes of listening to a Marantz SA-KI Pearl. Crystal clear and as tight as the pope's morals. He offered the last one to me for a mere £2.2k. Now that was the real temptation of the day!
