NAS setup option

Not sure if this is possible!

Can I connect my a NAS straight into my wireless router via cable (like a Buffalo link station live) then connect say a squeezebox wireless network music player into Hi-Fi system without my laptop being used to stream the music as I would not be using itunes at all?

Can I also put a firewall on the server and if so which one is best?

Yes, but you would need to install Squeezebox Server onto the NAS. See HERE for instructions.
