NAD M51 - any news of Mk2 ?

It has been nearly 4 years since the M51 came out and even longer since the D/A tech became available in the M2, does anyone have any thoughts on when NAD might do the next revisions of these components.

It would be a real shame if I were to get a new M51 today and hear about a new model soon afterwards. I realise it hurts dealerships with existing stock when this sort of news comes out but from the customer's perspective, it is wiser to go for say the Benchmark DAC-2 which is more recent and compares well with the M51.

On the same topic, please let me know if anyone has any leads on an ex-dem or used NAD M51 at a good price.

Many thanks!

Hi,

I have an immaculate NAD M51 for sale which you can find on hififorsale.com. I am keen to sell and buy a Linn Sneaky DSM instead (the ad says I am after an Oppo but the Sneaky seems a better way to reduce boxes!) I am based in South West London

Feel free to call me on 07722 871945 or martinatwerp@gmail.com

Cheers,

Martin

Hi Theo,

I can confirm that there are are no plans to release a mkII version of the NAD M51 at the current time. I can understand your reasons for asking as there is nothing worse than "buyers regret"! The M51 is still a great performing dac with some great features and please visit the NAD website dealer page http://nadelectronics.com/dealers to access a list of UK retailers who will be more than happy to help you.

All the best,

Simon

Hello Simon,

this question has nothing to do with the M51 but do you know a release date for the new D3020 amp ?

Thanks :)

Hi Simon, Thanks for confirming!

Can I also ask, do you have any other DAC products (at or higher calibre than M51) planned for the next year or two ? I would have expected NAD to throw in more R&D to the product technology in M51 especially as it has proven so popular and I don't mind waiting :) If you prefer, you can reply direct to audio.perfecto@gmail.com

Hi Martin, I did pm you via hififorsale but got no reply.

Hi Theo,

Hi Simon,

I love my NAD M51. It's a high performing and versatile unit. In my own set up it replaced the esteemed Chord 64 DAC. I've had no qualms about the move to NAD.

One question: are there any plans to fully enable DSD playback in either disc or download format? I'm not that tech savvy, but I presume it would have to be via the HDMI, if it were possible.

Hi Charlie,

It is possible to decode DSD files and as you mention, this will nee to be done via the HDMI input. If you need more information, please refer to the link below.

Sheer misinformation by the folk at Sevenoaks. Its barely two months since I got my M51 and I hear of a new M12 coming out. Okay if Simon never repplied to my query or replied saying honestly he didn't know but instead what did he do, he says no there are no plans to upgrade M51.

I would never ever buy a product from Sevenoaks, I would import direclty if I had to really, very dissapointed.
