NAD C542 cd player problem

Hi. I just bought a secondhand C542 cd player. The problem is it's very slow when I want to select a chosen song using the 'skip' button on the remote eg. If I'm listening to track 1 and want to go to track 2 it takes a very long time. 24 seconds at one timing, not always this long but still seems excessive. It's fine going backwards e.g. if I'm listening to track 3 and skip back to track 2, it's instant with no delay. Is this a common problem with Nad cd players and is there any solution? Cheers..

Hello, maybe this indicates a problem with the laser lens mechanism or could be due to dirt deposit in the lens itself. You could try opening the unit and cleaning the laser lens with a cotton bud using some alchohol if you are keen into that kind of thing or use a lens cleaning CD. Otherwise if that doesn't fix it maybe you should contact your local distributor for a service.

I had the same problem with a 521 and it was sorted with a cd lens cleaner.

Cheers guys for the replies. I tried the cd lens cleaner but it didn't work. The cd player will be returned to the seller now and he was very helplful.
