Can't see why you shouldn't be OK under guarantee Feral.

Why not name the retailer? They should be helpful. Either way, they'll get the publicity they deserve.

i've no issue with the retailer at present, and I posted on here when I bought the TV direct from Amazon. Been very happy with it so far so let's see how this pans out.

Amazon hopefully should be good. Was it 3 days until your warranty is up too?

but I saw was under a year so good enough for me. Interesting that i've not seen much at all about this TV on WHF or elsewhere. yes there are issues with lighting at the bottom of the screen when you are using the cursor but in real use it's been great. 3D, HDR, DV & UHD and nowhere near as expensive as some of the OLEDs. I'm only concerned if they say i need a swap out for another model.

to the LG support line which appears on the TV, they are sending someone out in the next 2-10 working days. Not enamoured with the lead times but at least the TV is watchable.

under the old goods and services act if I accepted a repair i would lose the right to get a refund or exchange. should i not be accepting an engineer coming around to take a look or should i pursue with the vendor Amazon for an exchange or refund?

Depends really how much you like the TV? Whether you can afford a better one? Which one would you exchange for? I can't see many TVs in 65-inches available for £2000, can you?

I like the TV, but the question would be whether i should accept a repair on insist on a replacement and get a new device. If i accept a repair what other faults could be hiding in there?

I always believe in giving a chance for repair first. You get a warranty for the repair work too. If you're not happy with the work, you're free to return it then. There shouldn't be any issue.

the law changed for purchases after 2015. it used to be that if you accepted a repair on a faulty itemthen you forfeited the right to a refund or exchange but i'm not sure on the new set of rules but didn't want to go down that route if that was still the case. You now have to have have a case against te vendor as to whether the fault was present at the time of sale but i would argue that a TV regardless of costs would be expected to operated for a number of years before expecting to replace it.

I suppose I would personally go for a new TV.
