Please can somebody help / advise?

My Sony BDP-S360 blu-ray player (for some strange reason) has stopped playing blu-ray discs. I tried loading a disc tonight (for the first time in a couple of months) but it would not play the disc. It will however play dvd's and it will omit sound from my speakers whilst the disc is trying to load but will not read any blu-ray disc and won't play. I have tried connecting the player to the TV in my bedroom and have tried loading several discs but to no avail. Please can somone give me some advise on what I should do? I purchase the player in August last year so I assume it will still be under warranty?

Kind Regards

Andy

Sounds like the blu-ray diode has failed. Similar thing happened my nephew's PS3 would play CD's and DVD's but no blu-ray's or PS3 games. Very worrying as repair guy has around fifty waiting on replacement diodes. At E100 a pop nice money indeed. Hope you have only a dirty lens.

To answer your original question - yes it should still be under warranty. Get in contact with the shop you bought it from and explain what has happened. If you are having problems with them, contact Sony, they should be able to help you get it fixed / replaced.

As masonica said, it does sound like a physical fault with the blu-ray mechanism so a repair or replacement under warranty will be the way forward.

Thanks for the advice guys but thankfully I've got it working now; I feel defeated but I decided to have a look at the instruction manual - in the troobleshooting guide it said if a picture will not display then I should hold in the stop button as this resets all settings. I therefore tried this, had a fiddle with the settings and thanfully it is back to normal. Strange one, but it worked!

Aah, the RT(F)M solution.

Would be interested to know what possible setting, or combination of settings, would give rise to the problem. I cant' exactly see Sony putting a "Don't display Blu-Ray Disks Yes/No" option on the cross-bar... Or did you select to force Blu-Rays to 480P NTSC output to your PAL TV?
