not sure its that simple with the new ps3 slims... i heard something funny about how they send that bit stream...

just bi-amped my 683's... sound seems cleaner... but feel like i might have lost some bass... is that normal..?

Not sure my self about the PS3 slim, my mate told me it works so I just took is word for it.

For bi-amping. You should not lose any bass at all, but it just may be clearer in the treble that makes it seem that way.

But to be sure, have you a SPL meter on hand, as you can take a measurement with the test tone bi-amped and in normal mode, if you have no SPL meter then check your manual to see if there is pertickler way you should have the AMPS feeding your speakers, as for my onkyo, it says to have the normal left-right channel feeding the tweeters and the others to the bass units.

I was forced to change my PS3 to a slim model and the bitstream sound is much much better.

Rigors- very sweet looking (and I'm sure sounding) set-up

. You seem to have an excellent balance with the aesthetics and IMO the 40" tv fits in very well given your viewing position. Can I ask, what are the plinths you are using under the 683's?

Hi Nick

Thanks buddy - the sound is really great!! And i think the TV size is good. I originally bought a 42" and it just looked slightly too dominating. That said i would like to get a projector at some point, and i think for that i could go maybe 6 times as big as this TV!!

The plinths actually came with the 683's, so i haven't done anything particular clever - just used what was in the box. 🙂

I noted in your first set of pics that the 683's were sat on the floor ie no plinths and wondered if you had decided to try fitting something to improve the sound? Did the plinths make any difference sonically?
