Welcome to the wonderful world of hi fi, NAS88. I just hope your cat doesn't mistake it's play area for your left speaker

Looks fantastic Nas88, congratulations, superb first setup. Other than to suggest a bit of cable tidying when you have some time, I would just say sit back and enjoy the music!

haha thanks man, yes I have the speakers covered at night and I really doubt they would be able to push them over though...these things weigh a ton!

Thanks Ben, how does thou commence cable tidying? Its such a mess in the back of that, I don't know where to start!

Oh 1 thing I would like your expert advice on since I'm still a newbie. Why has my amp got an option for Speaker A and Speaker B? At the back its got 8 speaker outputs?

You can connect 2 pairs of speakers to the amp for a/b switching,

for example setting A for main speakers

and switch to setting B for bedroom speakers

nice first set-up by the way

Thanks Stig08.....its really starting to open up now after 15hours of listening.

About the amp, it also gives an option to play both A & B together...does this mean I can run my speakers bi-amp style? Or am I being silly

Hi Nas88,

glad you're enjoying it, I'd say your speakers will take at least 100 hours to break in, so the best is yet to come

It was the wiring coming from the right I thought might be easiest to tidy up. Check out page 11 of AlmaataKZ's system thread for the sort of thing I was thinking: http://community.whathifi.com/forums/11/392544/ShowThread.aspx

And then maybe some velcro cable ties for the wires, particularly for the cables going to the TV, as that's what sticks out most.

Looks great tho!

100 hours?!?!? WHAT?!? lol well, got a fair way to go then.

Thanks for the wiring solutions too.

Can I ask again about the A+B speaker option? It says I can either run A independtley or B independtly or both at the same time.

FWIW ATCs, like my 11s, are said to take 4-500 hours to fully break in and sound their best!!

Thanks for the wiring solutions too.

No problem. I always find a tidy environment helps me enjoy the music more (not that I always stick to that).

Others will be much more expert than me, but I would have thought A / B allows you one of (i) multiroom (same time or separately), (ii) an extra pair of speakers, (iii) biamping by reassigning a channel to your fronts. Your manual should explain?

That's pretty impressive kit at 22!

What on earth do you do for a living?!

LOL

jase fox:Your first hifi at 22? Now is that your age or first line of your address? ha Lovely speakers by the way.

Ben

I tried reading through the manual but it was very brief at this stage. It said I can run 2 different speakers and stage A and B but nothing about playing it together. Would it split the wattage between 2 sets of speakers?

haha guess it pays well just being a junior finance officer. Oh and also plenty of saving and sacrifices, reminded me of being back at school with me taking lunchboxes into work
