After receiving lots of good help on here when I was buying my TV, my dad has asked me to sort him out with a new TV as well now. At present he has a HD ready, 32" Toshiba. Its about 3 yrs old, still perfect. However he has just got his first HD box from virgin (V box), seen the benefits of HD and now want to upgrade to a full HD TV.

His budget is about £500 maybe a little more if I can justify it to him. The main things he watches are lot of sport mainly cricket and football and he watches a lot of films on dvd and via the film channels. He is looking for something around the 37"mark, maybe a 40", budget permitting. Thanks for the help in advance.

Unless he really wants a larger screen, there's little point in him upgrading for the sources he currently watches. All are at 1080i, so will be handled just fine by his current set.

He has got his mind set on a larger screen. I am sure I could get him to go to a min size of 40"

Just bought a Sony 32EX703 for £500 and it is a belter. Delighted with it. 32" is perfectly fine for a lot of rooms.
