So here I try again....... >)

I timed out for a while as IMO nothing sounded right anymore, I contacted francis as I didn't really knew what to do anymore......<go for the expesive permanent cable or the one I might upgrade in the futur an upgrade my digital source now.......

Afther a small discussion he he I might better finish the cable section even if it might mean I change in the future. So he give me 2 new players Transparent Super music wave & Kimber 12ct

Transparent Music wave super
Connected now so most fresh in my memory but feels like they loosing it in the low sometimes but it gets better by the day or maybe I get just used to theme. An I like there upgrade politic

Connected a pair of Kimber 12 ct Thursday an have to admit I wasn't expecting to much of it considering my findings of the selects in my system.
But they a way more open an upfront as there big brother
Really crispy in the mean time I felt that it lost a bit of power compared to the Transparent an had to turn up the volume to get that power effect an that become quickly to much for me. But they are brand new so I let theme run in 24/7 for 2weeks see if it improves.

I was surprised because coming from the same company those Kimbers sound really different an are a better match to my system an taste. It was upfront, crispy detailed really transparent an lifelike also Compared to the selects they are more agile an fresh.

The only minus point beside the lose of power (dramatic effect) is that this can get tie-ring I'm afraid but I hope the next 2 weeks will sort that out

Now afther a weekend still enjoy the kimbers bot not shure it's the best choice it's a fun an engaging cable but ofthen had the feeling I had to lower thz volume.

Beside those 2 cables he also give me back a pair of AH kb10 an last (Yes Icman finaly) a pair of MIT Matrix 18s :)

So I hope I can have a listening with Alex again to have a secound tought because I'm hesitating at this point but afther thse 2 cables Transparent might be a smarter choice I don't know they are slightly less attacking an crispy beut more powerfull an easier to listen to in the long run.

But like I said the 12ct are also brand knew an I wileet them in for at least a week more maybe they will setle a bit.

Roby...Just to give you some inputs about MITs. Im not really a fan of the Matrix series as other people do. The only reason I have the Matrix 12 xlr was that the dealer have sold all the previous models which now I think discontinued( Shotgun / AVt / CVt / Magnum). I found the matrix 12 xlr(12 poles) a bit brighter and forward compared to the AVt proline xlr(8 poles)

I have not heard the Matrix HD so can't comment on that but quite too expensive for me.If you can ask the supplier for the previous models such as Magnum, AVt MA, Shotgun MA if he still got them in stock. If the cables are new make sure you give them plenty of time to run in cause the have passive electronics in the box (inductors, capacitors, resistors):)

I saw they still sell theme online. But as you know I will never buy theme if I can't test them but I will certainly give the distributor a call tomorrow see if he can help me it's the same distributor as for Avalon here so I think he will be helpfully 8)

Hi Roby,

How's it going?

Are you getting anywhere with your choice in cables? or have you dropped the project for now?

Hope you're still enjoying your music!

I hope you and Alex have not left, as this place would be much the poorer for it.

It would be great if you both would report in with an update.

Ah, nice to be wanted.

It's probably a combination of things... tired of the constant inane wrangling on subjects that people will never agree on and lack of respect for others opinions.

To be fair, it's not just here it happens.

For a while now, the majority of posts, no disrespect, just don't catch my imagination

The continued problems with the website doesn't help either.

Finally, without wishing to sound smug, I think I've reached a point, apart from cables, where I'm not looking to change anything for some time... give it a year and I'll probably change my mind lol!

You make a point that's hard to argue with.

If you listen to something interesting, make sure you report in.

Never underestimate the effect you have or the contribution you make.

Thank you Cno, appreciate those words and that quote of yours is pretty apt don't you think?

I'm keen to try some Audience AU24 SC's and have found some at a reasonable price, but can't for the life of me, find matching jumpers at a similarly good price.

Hi Mac

I know what you mean - I sometimes find myself going "oh no, here we go again'' when certain exchanges start (it's usually the same subject matter over and over) but I think in comparison with other forums, this one is perhaps the least stressful to visit.

It's worse over on PFM - the audio journalist and editor Alan Sircom was a regular on PFM but recently became so cheesed off at a torrent of criticism (much of it unwarranted, in my view) of hifi mags/writers that he's sworn off the forum permanently and as for HUG, well, you know my views on that. I think by and large WHF members are a decent and helpful lot with a minority who are maybe a bit strident when it comes to pushing their own preferences but these are still tolerable nonetheless. Yourself, CnoEvil, Roby, BigH, altruistic lemon, plastic penguin, chebby and many others make this a comfortable and enjoyable place to pop into now and again - we may not always agree on the same things but if everyone did agree on everything, audio would be a pretty boring hobby IMO.

Meanwhile, apologies to the OP for going off-topic!

Off topic, as in: "not discussing M6i vs. Nait XS"? ;)

Where is the OP in the first place? Roby, you there somewhere?

Sadly, I think we may have lost Roby and Alex for that matter... it's a poorer place without you guys.

Thanks Singslinger for bringing a bit of perspective. Have you ever been on hifi wigwam? in the main it's a really good informative site that does in the main discuss pretty high end gear, but I've seen posts there on the subject of cables and quite frankly some of the responses given were a disgrace, to the point of being vitriolic!

I'm on long term sick at the mo, so I dare say I'll be checking in regularly in the hope of something tasty to read.

Btw, what speaker cables will you be using between your Accuphase and the new Harbeths?

Hi Mac

Most probably I'll be using Crystal Microdiamond or Cardas Clear Light but have you heard of Auditorium 23? Handmade in Germany and designed to be used with tube/class A amps. Not too killer expensive - about £500 for a pair of 2m cables - and my ProAc dealer highly recommends them. I had a listen in the showroom and thought they were pretty good.

That's interesting... I've read quite a bit about them and was on the verge of ordering some, but then I read about them being designed with tube amps particularly in mind and as the E350 is of A/B class, I'm not sure if they would be a good match or not... what do you think?
