music through apple macbook to hifi

mr exclusive:i want to play music through my macbook to my hi fi any ideas what out their to get the best possible sound? (My emphasis.)

I would suggest using a DAC like one from the Benchmark DAC1 series (£900 - £1300) or even a Chord QBD76 (£3000) or dCS Scarlatti DAC/Upsampler (£18,500) if you really mean 'the best possible sound'.

Give us a hint about your budget and your system.

i own the arcam solo and have recently bought the arcam rdock which had been voted best dock no arguments their. i must admit i have been looking into buying the cordette gem which probably be more in my price range £400,
but wonder wether its as good as people make out?

Expensive though, and lacks versatility. I'd be more inclined to get a Beresford or DACMagic for a quarter or half the price respectively. Add an Airport Express for wirelessness...

i was lookin in to the dacmagic is a very good choice! the convenience of bluetooth would do my iphone wonders tho! my only concern is how would the cordette gem sync with my macbook, can anyone explain??

It's a fabulous choice, yes

I don't know how the Bluetooth works, though presumably you just pair it with the device and off you go? No sign of a manual on the website.

Personally, I'd be using your iPhone as a Remote for iTunes on your laptop

i concur (tho i plug my sound card into my dac and my dac into to my amp - none of this streaming business, so dunno if it makes a difference to sound); there are other equally versatile dacs i think, but then you step up quite a way on price.
