Multi Channel ( Onkyo 606 )

Hi, I have set my sky to the Onkyo through phono leads and listen to a lot of music from the radio channels but one thing that bugs me is the lack of clarity from the back speakers,I put the Onkyo on PL11x music and all I get is just a garbled sound,am I correct in assuming that Pro logic 2x seperates the left/right signal to give a sense of multi channel from the back speakers. What am i doing wrong? I run a 6 . 1 system.

Yes, PLIIx can work on out of phase information in stereo signals to create a sense of surround, but with stereo content from there may not be any information for it to get its teeth into, thanks to the transmission system, the bandwidth limitations of the transmission and extra factors such as compression introduced by the broadcasters.

You could try tinkering with the dimension and panorama settings in the PLIIx set-up, but don't expect miracles: if there's nothing on the rear channels, the processing can only do so much.
