Hi,

I am looking for a 3.1 setup for my living room. I have "rears" covered and I am seriously considering the Mordaunt Shorts, but how would they stack up against the Radius HDs?

Room is 4 by 4.5 meters, it is important that they work well with music.

Would it be wiser to look at something a bit bigger, such as RX1/Aviano2?

Jakja83,

The Mordaunt-Short Alumni is a good system, but they are totally outclassed by the Monitor Audio Radius HD.

The MA's are in a different class and league which is perfectly understandable, especially when you're comparing a £500 system to one that costs close to £1300.

I have the MS alumni for the rears and they are very well built and look nice.

But would prefer the MA R90HD

The MONITOR AUDIO RADIUS'S are excellent speaker's that look and sound beutifull and they outclass, outlook and outsound the MORDAUNT SHORT ALUMNI'S in every way. Buy the MONITOR AUDIO'S and you will be more than happy.

The MA are IMO the best style package HT speakers you can get for the money or less. There is also the B&W M1 series and the kef eggs which range from the 1xxx to the 3xxx series. IMO, the MA are the best of the lot, and especially so if you choose the larger of the MA speakers, like the R250 or 270HD's. The floor standing speakers are awesome for a speakers so slimline.
