Just over a year old in silver piano lacquer (which probably wouldnt have been my 1st choice) , £300 from a very nice gentleman who has 2 rooms full of home cinema projects! This was barely used and surplus to requirements. Only problem is I'm on business until tomorrow ( was meant to be as the seller lives about 20 miles from where I was scheduled to be today) and it's now sat in the boot of my car in a multi storey car park in Nottingham!

Won't get the chance to hook it up til tomorrow evening

I find bi-wiring can bring varying results. Some speakers sound more three dimensional when used this way, and some reveal a minimal difference. We only use ours single wire in store, but if your centre is on a rack at the front of the room with the AV amp, your run of cable will be around a metre at the most, so it's worth doing for the sake of a few quid, even if it is minimal.

This thing is huge! Weighs a ton too!! I've got it hooked up to my Onkyo via a length of Chord Odyssey cable and it sounds wonderful, especially with the RS5's. I'm 'bi-amping these using 2 separate runs of old Chord Carnival to the HF and 2 runs of 'home made' silver cables to the LF - is it worth investing in some new matched cables for the RS5's and, if so, then what do you recommend?

I bought my first ever Bleu Ray player about a month ago, then thought about upgrading fronts, had to change the centre obviously to match....now just loving watching Sky HD, BD's etc.....but do need a pair of matching rears+sub soon!!

You prefer the MA's to Quad?

MA's much better to my ear, Quads lacked depth and top end quality voicing was good though had 12L's, 11L's and L-Center with MJ sub.

You could choose cables to suit bass and treble, but I'd rather keep them the same. I'd build on the Odyssey you have. Having done a demo in our demo room today (minus the Odyssey), I can tell the Carnival Silver Plus just isn't as good.

would odyssey as opposed to silverscreen make all that much difference for watching movies ? considering how expensive it is, would it really be worth it?

I've just checked out prices for it (4 runs) and it would not be far short of buying the RS sub. Willing to spend some if it'll make a difference...should I buy unterminated and just add banana plugs myself?

I've just added the RS5's and installed the GS LCR today....my wife noticed both on the day that I'd changed things over from the Missions (although I reassured her that they'd been there for months

)

If I get the sub it'd be like rubbing her nose in it!!

FrankHarveyHiFi:

I would rather single wire with Odyssey rather than bi-wire with Carnival, or single wire with Rumour. That would keep the cost down a bit.

When you say 'single wire with the Odyssey' you are talking about the RS5's? I've got them Bi amped with the Onkyo just now using 2 different brands of cable.

It's hard because I don't know how yours sound.

If you feel the bi-amping made a large enough difference, stick with it. If there wasn't much difference, I'd try a better cable to get a bigger difference.
