Hi there,

I'm currently searching for a new mobile phone and as this is really largely unknown territory for me, I was hoping you could help me out.

Requirements:

-preferably not much more expensive than 120 pounds (sim lock free). Basically because this is the amount which my employer compensates for, and I see no reason why a mobile phone should cost more.

-easy to operate

-with good quality mp3 playback (will use my own headphones- the cx300, for this purpose)

Any suggestions welcome!

Well, I might buy from ebay, as an iphone does look like an interesting proposition. TBH I have looked briefly on a similar trading site for just that purpose and was shocked to see the askingprices!
The other backside to buying second hand is that it would not be compensated for by my employer.

In that case the new Sony's are supposed to be good for music, but I don't know my phones well enough to suggest a model.

Thanks for the tip! Looking in the what hifi reviews the sony-ericsson W890i fits the bill pretty well, although at 230 pounds sim lock free, it is 100 pounds over budget...

Sony seems to be a good bet, though, as their mp3 players usually are quite good.

Anyone else have experience to share concerning sound quality and usability of their mobile phone?

For £120 the Nokia 5310 it's simple thin and you can use your own headphones with it - it may not be the best phone out there but it does mp3's quite well
