Hi.

I'm looking for speakers for my 2x stereo budget system.

I have Sony STR-DH100 (2x100Watt) and a pair of Wharfedale Diamond 10.1.

I'm thinking of Missions m35i.

Is it a good choice?

Music: Jazz, ambient, house, dance.

I also watch a lot of movies. Any genre.

I'm looking for a strong bass without a separate sub.

Room: 3,5m x 5,5m.

It has to be black.

There is no way I could test them before buying.

Regards.

Welcome to the forums...

Whats your budget? IMO for your taste in music B&W speakers would be well worth being looked at as well!

The M35's will certainly fulfill your bass criteria, and other than the equivalent Wharfedales, will be pretty much your best bet. They won;t be the best quality wise - try Monitor Audio's RX1's - pretty strong bass for a standmount speaker, but will outperform the M35's in the mid/treble department.

At that budget I'd also look at some B&W 685's.

IMO they will trounce all speakers undert the £500 bracket for deep, solid, punchy bass!

Though it's worth mentioning that you only get the best from that bass if you use them on sturdy speaker stands.

Very true

Atacama Nexus 6's or Soundstyle Z2's at a minimum but my money would be on the Partington Super Dreadnoughts (and you can get them 2nd hand via eBay if you're cutting budget)

If you need to budget in speaker stands and cables et then take a look for some B&W 602 S3's via eBay.

If you've room for floorstanders then I can whole heartedly recommend the Acoustic Energy Neo 3's as well or you could find a pair of Monitor Audio BR5's on eBay also!

Honestly, after just having put enough time on my M35i / M3CS / 2 x M31i 7.1 system (non-Mission sub) I would strongly recommend these beautiful sounding speakers to anyone.

They are well balanced, precice, excellent tonal qualities, good bass (2ch stereo) extension, and in my room (4 meters x 7 meters) they are just about perfect to my ears.

I drive them with a Marantz SR9600, and an Oppo 83SE source, and even though they are 'bloody' expensive here in Oz (M35i's $1900AUD = 1100 pounds......no I'm not kidding), they are about the best value for money I could find in the price range.

They replaced a Wharfedale Evo system, which I liked but found a little 'fluffy' for 2ch music - which is about 80% of my listening. The M35i's are 100% better for music - but possibly not quire as powerful bottom end (thats what the sub is for anyway) for movies.

Bottom line - get them, you wont be dissapointed [especially at the ridiculously low prices you get things there in Pommy land for.... 🙂 ]

I agree with Jack Daniel... I have mission M35i (279 euros) + M32i +M33i + M3c2i + M3as Denon Av-2310 and the result is really good to my ears...

Q Acoustics 2050, or secondhand 1050i (or ex-dem if you can find some). Nothing better at your price range to fit the bill. Q Acoustics 1030i alternatively. Job done. They'll (the 1050 or the 2050) upstand a good few upgrades to the rest of you kit too. Disregard the price tag on them; they're very good speakers and better than the ticket price would normally have you believe. Great little company and a bit of a pedigree to the name.

2050: £370 (gloss finish - £449) and the 1050i: circa £250 or so if you can find them. Superfi have the 1030i for £129 currently.

I would recommend the Mission Speakers , their M33i and M34i are very good VFM Products and sounds great, never heard the M35i . Should be good as M34.
