Hi All

So I'm replacing my parents old Sony RX88. A beast to be sure, ancient but still great. Sadly some of the buttons have given up after two decades. And it lacks modern functionality. I was looking at either the Denon Ceol N9 or their DAB D-M41 but anthing in this size bracket seems to only have one analogue input.

I have a nice turntable and google chromecast audio I want to add to the mix. But a lack of inputs. Otherwise both of these systems would do them nicely I think probably. Any way around this without buying a seperate analogue amp?

You can connect the chromecast using a toslink (digital optical) cable. With the Ceol you can stream from a NAS, a mobile phone or Spotify.

I don't think those stereos have built-in phono stages for your turntable, so you must buy an external one.

Actually the turntable itself has a built in phono stage it's a Sony PSHX500. And I didn't realise there was an optical out option for Chromecast! Problem solved! Thank you sir!!!

On a similar topic I'm thinking mission speakers being voted the best in my price range. Would the 65w x 2 output of the Ceol N9 be underpowered to the 100w x 2 Mission LX-2? Might I be better off with Q Accustics 3020being they are 75w each so closer to the mark.

Any review I've seen comparing the two states the mission as slightly better. But then they all used 200w amps or better...

The watt rating you refer to is the quoted maximum handling figure and has nothing to do with whether your Ceol will drive them.

The more important figure is sensitivity quoted in dB so the Q Acoustics might be better for it although, unless you are listening at disco-levels then your Ceol will happily drive either so if you fancy the LX-2's then go audition, personally I'd go for the 3020's but that's just my opinion.
