just had my first experience with a gyrodec, and what an experience it was.

played through a pair of kef reference speakers it sounded amazing.

unfortunately, the moon cd player didn't fair too well, sounding very harsh and a fatiguing,

think i'd better start saving up.

Sounds the dogs. Although like any source it may just be a slight overkill with the A70. Personally I'd be looking at a good qualty Pro-ject or Rega RP3.

I've toyed with the idea of a Gyrodec but decided, correctly, that the expense on something that doesn't get the lion share of my music would be a waste.

as a piece of kit it is absolutely phenominal. i was totally blown away by it.

over 2 grand for a turntable is a hell of a lot of money, but how it sounded with the kefs, i can see why it is worth it.

I know - a lot of bread for a spinny thing. You can get them cheaper, around £1700 with a basic arm but...

My thoughts as well! The RP3 does sound very good indeed but the Gyrodec also has fab looks. Maybe 2nd hand..

IME a Gyrodec with RB303 arm vs Rega RP6 - not a lot in it if I am being constructive - yes the Gyro looks the dogs.

However put an SME IV arm on yes the thing sounds bloody amazing but thats £3k - a lot of cash!

in my dreams now with no4 off spring arriving

the Gyrodec belongs to a friend, he's not had it long, so i went to have a look and listen to it and have a few drinks.

we listened to the Moon CD player first, it's only got a few hours on it and sounded harsh at first, but was warming up after a few hours.

the speakers are kef reference, which have been fully refurbed, and look like new.

listening to the gyrodec after a few hours of cd's, it immediately sounded so much better, so musical, the speakers are a perfect match for it, and made so much more sense with the Michell.

if i had the money, i would have one, but i'm more likely to be looking at lower end rega's. and wishing i had that Gyrodec.

this hobby is going to ruin me. and my bank balance.

So you'll be buying in the next few weeks then? ;)

nooooo the ST40 has crippled my hifi fund

Probably not a bad thing Steve. At least it will give you time to enjoy the system you have now assembled which looks pretty fabulous as it is.

I know - it don't sound shabby!

I used to have a pair of Kef Concords that used the same driver and tweeter, sounded amazing...

I must admit to being tempted by that Gyrodec on Ebay, a thing of beauty :)

Double would be a good price. I guess though one would have to factor in the price of tonearm....

Plus arm board and de-coupling kit if you fancy a SME for example.

Go on Freddy - you know you want to!

Those spiniing weights would be mesmerising!

Then get a valve amp :)

It IS tempting, but I'm gonna stick with my original plan, to wait until I move before making any purchases. No doub't further down the line I might wish I took the plunge  Having said that, I quite like the laid-back simplicity of the Rega :)

:read: This!

I love my Gyro, glad I went for it over a Tecnodec or the other TTs I was looking at.

since listening to it at the weekend i've not stopped thinking about it. i was so impressed by it.

its definitely on my shopping list, along with a new amp, and a new rack to keep it all on.
