MF RRP and other technical questions

Hi,

Can anyone tell me what was the RRP in UK for MF X-Ray V3 CD player and MF X-CAN V3 headphones amp?

Also, I noticed that when I turn on the CDP, a message comes up on the display showing Version 1.0. What is this? Is it referring to some sort of softwaremodule? If yes, does it need upgrading?

Can't tell you about the x-can (400 maybe?) but the x-ray was about 900 quid.

As for firmware, yes that 1.0 is software version, but don't know if there was ever an upgrade, or how you'd install it if there was. It could have done with one though, it wAs a slightly weird user interface (like always skipping to previous track when pressing the 'back' button instead of to the beginning of the current track, if I remember right). Fantastic player though.

So I managed to get a slight discount on the units I purcahsed yesterday. About 200 quid less.

As for the firmware, maybe this explains something. I noticed that there are few of my CDs that runs perfectly on rega Apollo, either cannot be read by X-Ray or certain tracks cannot be played. A bit dissapointed now as I was actually contemplating to purchase either the X-ray or M3 which was only 200 quid more than the X-ray.

Take it back. It should play all CDs.

Strangely enough, I found the same - a couple of discs wouldn't play track one first off, they'd only play track two, but would play track one if you started at track two and went backwards.

Never a problem on the XRay v8. Take it back and grab an 8 instead. Excellent player.

I better fully run the CDP tonight with various discs. If not, will definitely be dissapointed if it is damaged.

Also, it cannot play CDR/RW like Rega. Is that true?

Contacted the supplier, he is willing to exchange with a new unit. He does not have X-Ray V8 for me to upgrade my purchase but I can get an M3 for an additional 200 quid.

Anyone can comment/review on M3? I actually had a listen to it at the exhibition but it was paired with its matching M3 amp and was run with AAD speakers. It does give a warmer sound than the X-Ray V3 but I do not know how it will sound on my X-A1 and X-A50 with EPOS.

Another question, for a slot in CD player, how do run CD lense cleaner? I have a disc with those small brush on it for cleaning the lense. Will it get stuck if I put it through a slot in CD player like M3?

Got the XrayV3 unit changed to another one. SO far so good. It can keep on repeating the CD as normal.
