Hey

I am thinking of selling my PS3 as I hate converting MKV files ect.. and I dont have time for games anymore.

I was looking at the WD TV LIVE Does this media player play everything no problems no converting ect..? or can it be hit and miss?

Also seen something called AC RYAN and the sumovision, but worried about firmware updates ect.. with these.

Thanks

I was interested in the ACRyan playon HD mini - but using Twonkymedia server (£15) on my laptop and a Sony s570 seems to do what I need.

Haven't tried MKV's but they are supposed to be supported on the 370/570...

Why are you worried about firmware?

I might try twonky as I heard its good, but using free trial of wildmedia which is supposed to be the best for the Sony BDP-370 and its not seeing some files.

I mean if there is a bug, dont want the company to stop making updates becuase people dont want to buy, with WD they are a massive company.

The WD live is very good and plays virtually everything. It's not as good as my Popcorn Hour though. The UI is clunky and firmware updates are not great. The PCH is more expensive though.

After my big upgrades today I dont think I should buy that popcorn hour.

All I want to do is stream MKV and M2TS files over homeplugs without having to convert.

Just like the PS3 but without the converting.

Popcorn Hour cant play HD audio through MKV or single file m2ts. Only via fully structured BLuRay folders which have had the menu removed using TSmuxer. I find the popcorn hour is alot of hassle to setup compared to my WDTV Live which was easy and doesnt require scripts to be ran or a Windows Media Server to be dynamic.

If you want to play HD Audio then the Popcorn should be able to do this on all files soon but im not a big fan of YAMJ as i think the WDTV Live movie sheet feature is so much easier and quicker to update

Unforntunatly the WDTV Live cant pass through DTS-HD but can pass through TrueHD from single file m2ts

Thanks for that ,I wont be using it to stream master audio as I dont really back-up my discs.

I have lots of HD video's of the kids ect, and the files are quite large and they are either DD or DTS.
