Media PC with an external DAC

Hi
I am looking to het a good external DAC to partner with my media PC. I'd like to play my lossless WAV music files through this DAC to replace and improve on the quality of my Arcam CD73 CD player. I would welcome your suggestions. My budget is in the range of £1000

You could beat your CD73 with a £100 DAC, if you ask me. In ascending order of price, look at products from: M-Audio, Fubar, Beresford, DACMagic, then the sky's the limit - Cyrus, Stello, Benchmark, yadda yadda.
