Cost wise I can see why they might have done it but it would not factor in to my selection of an amplifier sound wiseHi, Marantz is still producing several amps with metal front, but they are reference amps today. Like Model 10 or PM 10 and PM 12 before. For cheaper Matantz models I will not put my hand into the fire. And yes anything made from proper metal is expensive. I hate those plasticky "tofu" looking things as well.
