Hello all,

I have just ordered a Maranrz SR7011 AV Receiver yet just realised there seems to be no pre out connection on the rear of the unit. I currently use this on my Yamaha RX-A2020 for connecting my stereo amp and cd player to my receiver.

My question is...how can I do the same with the SR7011 if at all??

If I can't this may be going straight back when it arrives, can't believe I missed this.

Any help greatly appreciated thank you.

In the specs it says upgradable pre outs. You must have misread it. Easily done. Go back it must then.

It has pre-outs. Check this close up pic of its back:

Thanks bigboss!

If I remember correctly my yamaha rx-a2020 is configured using the front pre out to drive my stereo system. I'm sure that's how it's connected but may be wrong as it's been some time since I set it up...how often do we look at the rear after set up eh?

That's a relief and means I don't think I need to cancel my order so many thanks indeed for the information!

I have the 7010 and it's a cracker. The 7011 should be even better, and there's a step in the setup process where you can configure "Amp Assign" or something like that where you can send the front left and right (and / or other channels) to external amps, in your case your " proper stereo".

No problems.

Please be sure to report back on how you get on with the setup as many of us are interested in what the 7011 can do in reality, me if I'm ever allowed to add a new receiver for our downstairs - 5.2 or 5.4 in the den plus up to six satellites in my case.

Of course I will.

It's arriving tomorrow via DPD so I'm going to set it up when it arrives. Will report back when it's up and running and had a thorough test.

Hello all,

My SR7011 arrived yesterday and it's all set up and running although I haven't had the sound meter out to check the speaker levels.

First impressions are very positive although I've yet to give it a thorough test so will report back in the next few days with more detailed impressions but with Star Wars A New Hope last night on blu ray it was mightily impressive. It's so much more musical than my old RX-A2020 and capable of scale that really let's me hear the full potential of my speakers. It's a very significant upgrade that's for sure!

All I can say for now is I'm very happy I upgraded and that I can't wait to watch more movies through it *yahoo*

@ Oldboy: Any further updates on the sound of the 7011? you still happy with the purchase?

@Scene, nice to know that the 7009 is sounding good as you have a similar setup to me. I still have an STR-DB940 and I missed the 7010 at Peter Tyson around Christmas. Now waiting for the 7011 to come down to £899 or below (currently £999) or the Denon 4300.

I did listen to a Pioneer SC-LX59 at Richersounds just before Xmas and I was not impressed. Well I was for surround sound, but for Music listening the sound was way too bright and harsh with my MA speakers. Pity I can't find anywhere that has a Marantz to listen to.

As you can see been wanting to replace my am for a while:

I've had Yamaha and Marantz AV receivers with Monitor Audio speakers. Both are excellent. My Marantz SR7009 drives Monitor Audio Trimless 200 speakers which shares drivers with MA Silver series. The combination is excellent, very musical with the oomph for movies.

I'm running Pioneer SC-LX85 with Monitor audio Apex and this works well for music for me, it is not bright or harsh.

If you are just using the auto setup and doing nothing else then things may not sound right, time has to be spent on the finer detail.

thank you both. I've been told that the Pioneers higher up the range (with Class D amps also) have a better, less harsh sound than the lower models. I.e. the SC-LX79 etc. Perhaps my RS demo wasn't tuned or refined properly.
