Hey guys,

I've recently bought the 2 items, first the speakers and hooked those up to my sony str-dg910 without doing the speaker setup calibration, since I already ordered the Marantz. That didn't sound too bad at all, but when I replaced the Sony with the Marantz and ran the auto-setup, the bass is not what I was "used" to, it's hardly there. My speakers are set to small, as they should. The bass setting on the amp is set to lfe + main and the crossover is set to 100 db. Crossover on the sub is set to 100, phase to 0°, eq to 0 db and volume at 3/4 of max open. The surround speakers are for the moment not in an ideal location, due to no compatible speakerstands ( ordered ). Should I make some adjustments?

Hi Be,

Adjustments 'Yes'.

Just looked on the KEF webside and the crossover for the 2005.3 Sats is 80hz. Therefore set you're sub to 80hz rather than 100. Regards Phase and level, i tend to adjust these manually. I start low and turn up each dial from 'Zero' until i can feel the sub, when the bass overpowers the music i turn them back a little until it doesn't overpower and is completely cohesive with the speakers.

Regards the amp, first set speaker distance, i have always found this is better when done manually with a tape measure. Then check the 'crossover frequency'. Make sure you set this for all KEF satellites ( Front, back etc) at 80Hz.

Suggest you run a test tone to check volume.

Hope this helps,

Kind Regards,

I have set mine to 50Hz, but getting the sub right is a long job with just testing and adjustoing untill it supports your speakers and not dominates them I think I have set mine at half. Its just a trial and error.
