Hi

I am looking to get the Marantz NR1601 to drive a pair of MA BX2's for 2 channel music and hopefully add to it later on (maybe a MA BX center) as I will be passing 3D through it to my TV, Its for a small 11/11 ft room hence I like the size!

Thing is does it sound any good? will it drive BX2's ok?

it will drive them fine i owned the nr1501 before it broke down and i'm still considering on getting the 1601. belive me when i say that it sounds alot more than 50watts i had it using to speakers and i have to say it's very musical with a warm sound i think it will have no probs driving the bx2's.

I had the 1501 as well and it really does use its 50wpc well. For your sized room it would be more than enough.

I have used mine with Monitor Audio BR5s and RS6s so it will easily drive BX2s and I'm sure will sound superb.

I had a Roksan CD player going through my amp and to my ears it was very impressicve with 2 channel music. A class little amp.

Thanks guys, I did think about squeezing a full size amp like the denon 1911 but it looks far to much for my needs and so BIG!

It may offer better sound but im no means a pro with this stuff just want something that looks smart and sounds great if not better then the ceol befor it.

Some things i'll miss is internet radio and proper ipod browsing does the 1501/1601 display track listings on the LCD like the ceol or is it all on screen GUI?
