Marantz NA7004 discontinued?

I've been looking to add an NA7004 to my system for a while now, primarily to stream from a Mac/ipad and also for DAB radio as my receiver is quite poor for this, but can't seem to find them selling anywhere but 2nd hand/b-stock on ebay. I'd rather get a new one now i've got the funds. Just wondering has it now been discontinued, and if so is there a new version coming out (na7005)?

Or would i be better off getting a mcr503/603 and use pre-outs (assuming it has them) to stream through my system?

The NA-7004 is still on sale, but I'd rather get the MCR-510 - has a built-in amp, cheaper and will probably sound just as good. WHF has reviewed the 610 - it has the same amp and streaming components but with CD player and FM, so if it's just streaming you want you won't be missing out on anything.

Sorry, yes didn't see your existing system. A 7004 will do the trick since it has DAB, FM (optional?), and I believe supports gapless playback now, and should be cheap.

The new 7005 will be expensive.

Thanks guys.

There's definitely an NA8005 but i expect it will have a price tag nearer the grand mark on release. That's the 1st i've ever heard of a 7005, its not in the new Marantz catalogue anyway

It would probably be a good solution adding the mcr603 anyway as one day i'll probably find use for it as a standalone system somewhere

As this very good Marantz is dicontinued now (it is official with some vendors) I guess it is worth waiting for a new version as Marantz will probbaly announce the new version soon, maybe by Christmas? Or - do you think they will postpone the launch to help the sales of the amazing NA-11S1 which is two levels higher? If this happens, could you recommend an alternative?

I did get the NA7004 in the end, ex display off eBay for £300, mint condition just missing the instructions & batteries for the remote. Very impressed with it, used mostly for Internet radio so far and a bit of AirPlay. Will sound even better through the pearl lite amp I've got ordered but in the meantime it's running through the NR1504 slimline receiver, and I'm also impressed with that little amp after downsizing from an sr6003 to save some rack space.

I'm in the same position on CD player now - was thinking about the pearl lite which has been discontinued although there is a bit of stock remaining still. The replacement SA8005 will be launched this December with a £900+ price tag

Isn't part of the point of a network player that you can use it to access your music on a NAS or even HDD, doing away with the need for a CD player. Personally I'd be ripping all my music and using the network player to play everything, rather than just using it as a tuner for internet radio. Set up properly you shouldn't need to switch on a computer to play your ripped files.

I don't have a NAS, and I don't have the time or appetite to re-rip thousands of CDs into a higher res format. I started ripping lossless files about 6 months ago but i still only buy cds as i prefer to own a physical format and for a proper listening session i'd rather put a CD on. I want to start buying vinyl again, thought even about moving my sl-1210 into the living room until i get a better deck but the mrs isn't so keen.... I bought the network player for the convenience of airplay and for dab & internet radio mainly as well as being a useful DAC. To be honest in the couple of weeks i've had it i've mostly only listened to the radio.

I'd just use my ud5007 as a transport for cd's but hdmi aside it doesn't have any digital outs!
