Anyone heard the CD5005 yet?

With same DAC and tray mechanism as the 6005, I assume it's a similar sounding machine but without the ipod usb socket?

Haven't heard it, but spec wise its the same as the 6005, but without the usb input. Same dac, transport. I seem to remember from a previous thread that a german review said the sound was identical. You could audtion them one after the other?

Love to, but finding a local shop that has both to audition is not as easy as it sounds!

6005 has a better power supply section than 5005 (higher quality components) and a heavier chassis. Other than that they are similar.

Might see what's in the January sales now I think. Although I notice both the CD5005 and CD6005 have been reduced in price recently. The Cambridge audio azur 351c is anyone idea too.

No sign of the CD6006 & CD5006 yet, is there?

As there are small cdps I would say no. Maybe bigger boxes sell better?

The 6005 has been out for a while now, so I would expect a new model soon,

Looking at the market, it seems there is a mixture of large and smaller boxes. Pioneer, Denon and Marantz like big, Cambridge Audio, Acram, Yamaha and Audiolab chose smaller boxes.

No doubt the bigger boxes are just full of air! 😉
