Hello all,

I was looking into a cheaper SA-CD player to go with my Marantz PM6005 and stumbled upon the Marantz CD5003 on Amazon which listed it as a SA-CD player... Even Marantz's own website doesn't mention this, unless you download the pdf and it is mentioned in there. The player has no SA-CD logo anywhere.

Does anyone know why this is more or less kept as a secret? Even the WHF review I found did not mention its SA-CD capabilities. I'd apprecited any feedback from owners as I was thinking of getting one for my little hifi setup.

Appreciate any comments.

It has a 24/192 capable Cirrus Logic D/A convertor and a HDAM-SA2 module. At the time these were used in Marantz SACD players.

But in short, a CD5003 is a standard CD player, limited to 16/44.1 PCM

adamrobertshaw,

Thank you for the inormation. Shame, I was hoping a PM6005 look Marantz SA-CD player at a reasonable price might be on the horizon for me... Will have to make do with my Sony unit on loan temporarily from the living room.

Cheers. TnA200
