mains lead

hi i have a experience filteration mains lead, does anyone know what amp fuse they use mine has a 5amp fuse inside the plug but as i bought it second hand i don't know if it's the original fuse, i ask as my russ andrews mains cables all have 13 amp fuses, thank you for any information.

That will depend on class and power of your amp. In all likelihood it's plenty.

To be on the safe side, what amp is it?

at the moment it's is connected to a arcam cd62 cd player

3 amp fuse would be plenty for a CD player, I wouldn't worry.

Check the specs on the amp you intend to connect to it. If it draws more than 1kW then you may want to consider a larger fuse. Otherwise stick to what you have.

The fuse in the plug is there to protect the cable not the connected equipment.

So factor that in if your changing up but a cd player is not going to pull any current thats damaging to the cables unless it goes seriously faulty which is unlikely due to its own fuse or protection system.

Or the cable is seriously thin which is unlikely but worth checking
