Hi, I'm looking into buying the above amp. Does anyone know how long the mains cable delivered with the unit is, and is there any reason to upgrade that cable for one of the 5 star mains cables reviewed by WH?

I personally would not bother,

The mains cable supplied with my Supernait is about 2 meters long and is generally considered that Naim mains cables are very good quality. I tried a supposed 5 star mains cable with the amp and could not notice any difference at all, so I reverted back to the Naim supplied cable...................

I upgraded my plug on the standard cable to the silver MK one. I played around with upgraded cables but didn't notice much difference to be honest. I still got one of the RA classic cords in the sale mind you, but will be putting that on my CD player when its burnt in and will put the powerchord on the AMP. Its nice to have shorter cables at the very least........

I've tried different mains cables and interconnects with my all Naim systems and have found that the Naim cables give the best appreciation of the 'Naim sound'. Different cables may change the way the music sounds but only the listener can decide whether it is better or not. Naim seem to choose their cables and interconnects to enhance their 'house style' so if you like it, it's probably best to leave well alone. There's always the Naim Hi-line and Power-line if you feel like spending ££££s on cables etc.

Agreed. I usually leave these question to Gander as he's tried them out, but Naim do recommend using the supplied cables, but that doesn't mean you can't experiment for yourself. As Cutlass has said, you'll more than likely get a better overall improvement going for a Hi-Line, which we're getting excellent feedback off those who have tried it (all home demos).

Naim equipments are supplied with off the shelf 14 gauge power cords in the US and with a different brand in the UK. Clearly, there's no Naim sound philosophy behind it, but I do prefer the sound of the supplied generic power cords over many exotic cords.
