Any idea of a good Mains Block for Schuco type of plugs?
I saw WhatHiFi has given 4 stars to Supra MD06 (for UK, the same exists also for EU) but it says the sound appeared to be slightly lean. Any idea if the Isotek sounds better? Russ and Andrews also have a model. Any opinion?
Any help welcome

Sounds slightly lean? HOW? It supplies electricity. I think there must have been a low pressure front or something that day!

Well, according to all major HiFi magazines there are improvements in sound quality.
July's HiFi Choice gave 5 stars to Isotek Sirius stating that "there was a clear improvement in clarity of sound"
HiFi News also had similar comments on Mark 1 mini sub
From the WhatHiFi review of Supra's MD06:
"We gave the sturdy Supra LoRad MD06-BS/SP Otis Redding's emotive and rich-sounding A Change Is Gonna Come to handle, and the Supra's effect on the sound became noticeable.Vocal clarity increased and became more transparent, but the sound also became leaner, losing some of the depth and the characteristic punchiness of a good soul recording. Despite the advantages, it doesn't offer enough improvement to justify a higher rating."

Unless all magazines are so wrong it seems there is some kind of improvement in sound quality

I wouldn't like to buy one and then discover that my system sounds worse (more bass or whatever) :)

What are you guys using? Do you care about mains blocks or I can buy one from the super marker for 5 GBP?

Heh. Sorry. Ok. It was the terminology used... Sounds lean... hmmm
however. I have a couple of Brennenstuhl Premium-Line bf30000 which are surge protection, and EMI/RFI reduction too. (I slso have the Shuko sockets being in Sweden)

They work, and certainly do not make anything worse. (But IMO make zero difference either... They provide 5 extra sockets).

Dennis Michos:In their site I can only see LoRad cables. Are there also LoRad blocks?
How do they look like? Any link?

Supra or Brennenstuhl ?

Mains blocks have zero effect on sound quality. It's a myth.

Dennis Michos:
LoRad is by Supra, isn't it?

just checking, the Supra MD06 and other 3 blocks are all part of the LoRad "family". dont have the info to hand at the moment. The ones i got had the built in surge protectors which is always a good idea. so that would be the Supra LoRad MD06-EU/SP.
here you go

Well, If it is true that Mains blocks has no effect on sound quality then I start loosing my confidence on all HiFi magazines.
Which is dangerous.
I mean if it is not true what WhatHiFi, HiFi Choice, HiFi News etc have sustained that there is an effect of the mains blocks on sound quality then this means that they had other reasons (don't want to imagine which ones) to do so.
If this is true why do I have to believe that Cyrus CD6 SE is so special or that Onlyo 875 is so good?

Personally I would love to be present at one of the mystical blind tests.

I am speaking only from personal experience, and current beliefs...(which could change given a properly documented ABX test), but I would recommend just getting a decent surge protection block. If the price with EMI/RFI filters is not much more then why not?
But I have never noticed a single difference with any block, including my current one (no pun intended)...

(I also think we are all affected by the Placebo affect, even magazine reviewers... ;) )
