well guys you must all be kinda fed up of my frenetic search for info on these things by now [:$].

but , i suppose at this point i may as well start one more thread , giving my impressions .

wow , they are so well made , in their lovely walnut veneer case , they look gorgeous , i would have paid e400 for them just to look at them , even if they didnt work [😛] , they look so majestic , i feel like im insulting them by requiring them to do anything more than just stand there so proudly [🙂] ..

as for the sound ? are they better than the br5s ? yes they are , even straight out of the box , they are punchier , much more detailed , produce a bigger sound that fills the whole room , they sound crisper , bassier , ive listened to about a dozen tracks now , and the most striking thing , is how much the different instruments and sounds seem to have their own place in the soundstage , even on busy tracks , everything seems more seperated , if that makes sense ?

i know they will sound even better as they get more use , these are excellent speakers , i never really doubted that they would be worth the money , as good as my br5s were , and they were very good , these rx6s are on a different level [H]

daveh75:
Did you demo them first max, or just take reviews/forumites opinions for granted?

Glad it's worked out for you either way though.

daveh , i was going to demo , but it turned out that he was offering me a brand new pair , not ex demo , so as there were no rx6s set up , no , i didnt demo , i went on the overwhelming evidence that they are very good speakers , i know , i know , demoing is usually a must , but i just bought them .. and i am very happy that i did

, not at all pp , your recent views made sense , and i appreciate your input , these speakers will sound better with a higher spec amp , of that i think there is no doubt ..

but i was prepared to take a chance , given the views of others , that my nad would at least do them some justice , and that appears to be the case , they sound fantastic , im delighted i bought these speakers , i cant imagine ever needing better sound than they even currently produce ..

i will look at upgrading my amp , but not for a long while yet , ill just enjoy what ive got , 6 weeks ago i didnt even listen to music , now im wondering how i lived without it

bluebrazil:that was thankfully short, i had visions of a 5 thousand word review, enjoy your new speakers

Nice one Max

I have just worked out which speakers you were talking about, very nice.

I also have heard they are a good match for pioneer's, perhaps a future upgrade to a pioneer amp

You will have to post a picture in the future in the your system section.

Nice one.

Why did you decide to change from the BR5's so soon?

When you eventually do get around to upgrading the amp, you'll hear an even bigger improvement

If you could pick up a Yamaha Z7 second hand, an RXV1900 or 3900, they'll really sing.

It's best to hold the cash for aslong as you can, and get the best amp you can.

good question , my br5s were very good , but after reading up on the merits of the rx6s , and hearing the opinions of other rx6 owners , most notably dan 1979 (top man dan) , and realising just how much ive been enjoying listening to music recently , i just wanted to move up to a level of quality that i would be happy with in the long term , i had the oppurtunity to upgrade for a very reasonable price , and took it ..

as regards av amps ,i feel my current yamaha is good enough for me ,stereo music is where its at for me right now

igglebert:Superb stuff, sounds like a great result mate. Enjoy!cheers iggleburt
emotion-21.gif
, yes im very happy with my choice , ive put any future speaker upgraditis firmly to bed

A good second hand stereo amp could be had for not alot of money and would be a big step up over the Yamaha for 2 channel stereo. So that is also a consideration.

Your goal will be 5.1 eventually anyway I suppose, so somehow I don't think you'd consider a stereo amp.

Once you start getting into this av business, its hard to get away from the temptation of constant upgrades, so you've been warned

That was quick Max
emotion-2.gif
they look cracking
emotion-21.gif
and I like it how you have spread them apart, i always find they sound best the further the away from each other they are.

Good work Maximus

You have probably told us already - if so please accept my apologies - but what other speakers did you try out before deciding to buy the RX6s? (I seldom read MA threads.)

Or did you decide on the RX6s without comparison to other brands because of existing familiarity and liking for the MA sound? (I could understand that. It certainly makes life simpler

hi chebby , the answer is the latter , they just suited / matched what i had already ..

to be honest , i started out 6 or 7 weeks ago buying the br5s and the yamaha av amp , rather than pairing the yam with a budget surround system , i figured id get decent fronts , and build a system on them , then i got a bit of work in , and a bit more (in my game , these days , work is sporadic) , and just added the rest of my gear as and when i could ..

in the meantime i realised just how much i was enjoying music with the br5s , i completed my av system , sats sub etc , nad , marantz , and thought that was that , then i got a bit more work , started thinking of the rx6s , and given their quality , took the plunge..

not exactly what one would call careful planning , but thats how ive got from a to b ...

i heard the piano black.that must be the reason why i didnt like their sound
