Low sound

Hi
I have a Yamaha as301 amp
Two weeks ago .very low sound.
Checked speaker cables.
Didn't find anything wrong.
But it started working normally.
Now it has done it again
Very little sound.
Cables have not been disturbed.
Any ideas?

There is a dodgy connection somewhere - could also be on the source side, whatever it is you have plugged into it. In other words low output could mean low input!

Checked speaker cables.
Didn't find anything wrong.

No real surprise there Neil.
Any speaker cable problem will more likely cause no, rather than low, sound from one speaker.

Questions to ask are:
One or both channels going low?
On one or all sources?
On speakers, headphones or both?
Does moving volume control / source selector switch etc. clear the problem?.....
