Has anyone here had their loudspeakers resprayed/painted?

I'm thinking of getting my new secondhand speakers done (assuming I like the sound of them). Probably in a satin white.

i guess one can either mask the drivers/ports/rear connection plate or remove them. The latter is more dangerous but would give a better end result.

Strip the cabinets down and give them to a pro for respraying, unless you are a pro-sprayer yourself *smile*

Be aware doing this is likely to drop the value of the speakers but if going ahead I agree with the post above, get it done right.

I spent years looking for my current speakers only to have a pair come up that the owner, for some unknown reason, had sprayed them matt black...... doh! No sale!

When i said "getting them done" that's what I was trying to say!

Don't care about the resale value, but would hope to achieve something that looked as good as white B&Ws...

Then you have answered your own question in your opening post *smile* If you like the way they sound then splash some cash on a respray; a pro can do wonderous things with paint. Personally I would go smooth pearlescent white metalflake gloss - ultimate bling factor *biggrin*

Not sure what the answer I gave was!

Another way to ask it would be "How easy is it to remove and replace drivers, and does that have any impact on their sound?"

Maybe the manufacturer uses some special silicone sealant or something like that?

i think that there are one or two posts about spraying speakers on one of the IQ speakers threads. i think it was mentioned that 3 coats of paint/sanding are needed, followed by the final coat of lacquer, to achieve a perfect finish - so best left to professionals, rather than just slapping some paint on with any old brush.

Just picked up the speakers last night, and the "burr oak" finish is actually lovely (looks better in the flesh than photo) so there's no way I'll be respraying these beauties!

The monster speaker stands are another matter. However, in this case I think DIY might be OK.
