Hi all,

This years upgrade I think is going to be a Sonos.

Now I wont be able to afford / dont need all of the bits in a bundle so my plan is

1. Buy a ZP90 and run 5m cat 5 under the floor (basement), would this be ok?

2. If not to Q1 I assume just adding a zonebridge would be sufficient

3. Is there any noticable improvement running the ZP90 through a beresford as opposed to using its inbuilt DAC's?

4. Music is on PC wired to network and initially will be on until funds arrive for a NAS drive.

5. Will be using Android app for Sonos initially, anyone got any experience with this, how much functionality has it compared with the CR200 say?

6. Last stupid question, I may eventually move my Beresford upstairs / into the living room so I can listen in bed via headphones would I need a ZP90 or a ZP 120, I am tending to think the ZP90 but I am usually wrong.

Thanks in advance to all who answer

Don't know, depends what you're going to do with it. If you mean plug the other end of the cable into your router, yes it's fine. In fact it's required.

If not to Q1 I assume just adding a zonebridge would be sufficient

That'll work as well but if you're happy with the cable under the floor you don't need to zone bridge.

I've never heard a beresford but there was a huge improvement plugging mine into a digital input on my ten year old, not very expensive AV amp, so I would think so (I was using a free rca cable for the analogue connection though).

4. Music is on PC wired to network and initially will be on until funds arrive for a NAS drive.

That's nice dear...

You do ask awkward questions, I've got the Andronos app on my HTC but I've never used a CR200. The app found my zones very quickly, allowed me to select music to add to the queue, change zones easily enough, adjusted the volume, all the basics really. I didn't look that much further into it to be honest, I've not had much time for music listening recently.

6. Last stupid question, I may eventually move my Beresford upstairs / into the living room so I can listen in bed via headphones would I need a ZP90 or a ZP 120, I am tending to think the ZP90 but I am usually wrong.

Again, I don't know anything about the beresford but if it has a headphone output then I'd say you only need the ZP90, the ZP120 doesn't have any digital outputs anyway (or analogue ones or a headphone socket if memory serves, in which case it's actually cheaper to get an S5 which does have a headphone socket), so you can't use a DAC with one of those. If the beresford doesn't have a headphone output I'd suggest some sort of headphone amp and plug the beresford into that. Again I have no experience of headphone amps, so you'd need someone else to chime in here.
