Hi, my dad has been looking for a better quality stereo amplifier, he currently owns the Yamaha A-S701 and is looking for an upgrade. He cares about sound quality the most. So far we've looked at the Cambridge Audio CXA81-80 and the Arcam Radia a15 which has got great reviews but the problem with those amps is they don't have tone controls on them and he specifically wants tone controls like bass, and treble. He's looking to spend anywhere up to £1000. Any suggestions on Amplifiers that offer superior sound quality over the A-S701? Thanks.

I am also looking to replace my A-S701, but not soon. I am waiting to save enough money, to purchase a LUXMAN.
But first I will buy a MARANTZ SACD player. As an XMAS gift for myself. IMHO, £1k, may not solve the problems we have.
We are moving out of "entry level," to "reasonably good" hi fi. Everyone else is going to ask you what speakers you have.
But I bet they are not as bright as mine.
good hunting, IAN.

How about £2k? I was looking at the Yamaha R-N1000 but not sure if it's a decent upgrade or not. Can't seem to find the R-N2000 being sold in the UK. Also been looking at the Technics SU G700M2 which is exactly £2k.

Also we're using the Leak 2060 speakers with the A-S701.
