Hi

I notice this month's mag has the 555 with a 5 star review. I have to say I'm at my wit's end with mine and would struggle to give it one star.

I bought it so my wife could push one button so TV, surround amp etc would all be set to the correct settings depending on the input required. It does all this no problem apart from the TV. It only gets the correct input about 50% of the time is driving me absolutely nuts as it effectively renders it useless.

TV is a one year old Pana Plasma 42" - has anyone had this problem and can offer a fix?

Had an issue with my Panny for a while and used a workaround involving setting it to HDMI 1 for each activity and then sending the necessary colour buttons for whichever input I needed. However, a couple of months back or so, got an update for the remote which sorted the issue - have you applied the latest updates through the software? I've noticed you generally have to manually ask it to do this using the Downloads button in the top right corner of the Harmony Remote application.

Hi - thanks for that.

No, I havent knowingly applied a software update - I've always assumed this would happen automatically when transferring the settings to the remote. I'll plug it in and look for it.

If this still doesn't work though, what to you mean about the colour buttons? Do you mean the activities changed all other settings and then you had to push the apprpriate colour button to get the right input?

Cheers

Roger

Well, it depends on how you choose which input you want on the TV. My Panny is older than yours and in order to select which input you want (e.g. AV1 or Component etc.) using the normal remote control, you have to press a coloured button (any) to get the on screen prompt - you then push another coloured button (or two) to choose which input you want. Since it all depends which input you are on, I set all the Activities on my Harmony remote to switch to the HDMI1 input so I've got a known starting point. For each Activity, I then send the necessary sequence of coloured button presses to switch to the correct one for that Activity e.g. if I want the AV1 input for that Activity, I get the remote to send two red button presses which will then change the HDMI1 input to the AV1 input.

Of course if your TV doesn't work that way, this info is pretty useless! Try the update, if it doesn't work, let me know how you select the input you want using the ordinary remote and see if we can think of a workaround.

Thanks that's kind. I'll try to have a go tonight but as it's warm I'm talking my little 'un to the beach but will hopefully do it soon and let you know how it goes...

and have just noticed my ham-fisted keyboard skills ... 'Harmoony' indeed.

Hi

I found the firmware upgrade and ran that. I did a test and so far it seems to work ok! I turned it from TV, to HD recorder to Blu Ray and then back to TV then repeated and amazingly the TV inputs changed accordingly. I'll need to test it some more though as it does have a habit of working for a while then stopping but thanks for the advice...

Glad its looking good, but if it goes haywire and if your TV is a newer Freesat model where you select input via TV/AV button and UP/Down Analogue, component, PC etc. Contact Support and request routine for 50PZ81 to be added to your proflie. They done a cracking job writing a little routine to get my inputs working correctly

roger06:

Thanks Kena

It's not a Freesat model but that is indeed how the input is selected so I'll be sure to contact Logitech for this if it misbehaves in future.

Yes they would only need to miss out the Freesat option on the routine for my TV , i.e only 4 inputs as opposed to 5 or whatever . Tho think you will probably be okay as I was first Freesat customer they dealt with and probably non Freesat model inputs would be similar to US variations.

Hi guys

Just to let you know it seemed to work OK after the software update when testing it, but sure enough now, a few weaks later in real world usage it's back to it's old tricks - it just seems to choose a TV input randomly! It's not like Component always goes to HDMI1 instead each time...

Aaaaghhhh - really frustrating...

Okay, definitely worth contacting support as Kena suggests.

The other thing you can do is see if you can find if there is one input which always works e.g. on mine, if I set something to go to the HDMI1 input, this always worked, no matter what source it was on previously. Have you got a similar thing? If so, we can work from this to manually send the correct commands to ensure it always gets to the input you want.

It always go to TV when that's selected. I phone support months ago and the guy did something to make it do this...

So do you mean for Blu Ray for example to switch to TV first and then onto the component input?
